Diligence
Scriptural
reference: Proverbs 4:23 ‘Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are
the issues of life.’
Diligence, defined
as careful and persistent work or effort, requires opposition. Without
diligence, we will either do, or not do something without any way to gauge
progress, defeat, or the goal being met.
Quote: ‘If
winning doesn’t matter, why keep score?’
It is unwise to
suppose that desire alone is enough to insure we meet our life’s challenges,
arrive at destiny, and are steadily on course with our Kingdom purpose.
The press,
intentional aim, and GOD-guided focus of our life must be in perfect unison
with faithful diligence. Each moment’s action, inaction, and adherence to the
truths Jesus has spoken in HIS WORD must guide our hearts.
The life of your
heart is not your blood. The life of your heart is your mind, your soul, your
will, and your emotions. These are the sentinels of your heart life.
Your mind and the
thoughts you allow, establish the fruit of your mindset. ‘As a man thinks, so
is he.’ Proverbs 23:7
Your soul and the
focused intentions of your ‘inner vows’ (i.e., ‘will never do, will always do’)
set the compass for your way. ‘Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of
my heart be acceptable in thy sight O Lord my strength and my redeemer.’ Psalm
19:14
Your will and the
strength of conviction provide momentum for the activity of your life. How you
conduct yourself in this life directly correlates to your purpose for living. Reckoning
with, managing, and thriving in pursuit of your Divine purpose must echo with
each choice and effort in fulfilling that life purpose. ‘For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and
whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are
the Lord's.’ Romans 14:7, 8
Your emotions, as
changeable as the wind, must be carefully directed. Feelings must be monitored
by the mind that is held in the truth of the holy scriptures. Emotions are
intemperate and cannot be allowed to rule; no more than a 4-year-old child can
be trusted to manage the finances of a household. ‘Trust in the LORD with all
your heart; lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge
HIM, and HE will direct your path.’ Proverbs 3:5-6
Be diligent,
vigilant, and watch over the substance of your heart.
As your heart is
more than muscle and blood, you are more than muscle, blood, and bones tethered
to gravity and time.
