No Free Lunch

Scriptural Reference: 1 Peter 5:8 'Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.'

I had an object lesson recently. I lived through a hard lesson to learn about trust, gullibility, openness, and true respect. It cost me a lot to be ignorant. It cost me a lot to be easily trusting. I learned that a recommendation is not license to blindly believe anyone on the strength of the integrity of the person making the recommendation.

You've been there, too! Someone who loves barbecue will adamantly guarantee that the barbecue from "ABC" spot is worth the drive and the cost. You order your meal and expect to be amazed. However, on the day that you arrive for a meal the regular chef is not available. The recipe has changed and so has ownership of the business operation.

This is an over-simplified scenario to say, one single hard earned truth.

Vet every person.

The lesson about the lion who comes to devour is that the lion will have the appearance of what you desire. The lion will not show fangs, bloodshot eyes, salivating mouth, and claws ready to tear your heart from your chest. The lion will look like what you have dreamed to see. The lion will appear as enticing and inviting as someone with brown eyes that melt your heart like ice cream set out on a green lawn in summertime. The voice will not be harsh and jarring like needles scraping a chalkboard. Oh, of course not! That's too easy. Rather, this voice will speak so sweetly, tenderly, and every breath will exude an invitation like a hypnotic lullaby. You will find that you are sleepwalking into danger.

Wait for each person to prove they are trustworthy no matter who recommends them before you exchange precious commodities like time, gifts, talents, and your heart (save your body for marriage).

You have no reason to trust someone you do not know. You do well not to immediately trust someone you've known for a brief time.

The persons 'self-acquired' label, degree(s), pedigree, affiliation, association, or allegiance does not guarantee they are full of integrity and live the life to which they testify.

If you remember what the holy scripture admonishes regarding speaking the truth in love, honoring Christian sisters and brothers, not defrauding a sister or brother in Christ, remaining pure from sexual sin, retaining GODly counsel then perhaps you will not allow your actions to lead to sin. No one can keep anyone else from sin.

On this side of that lesson I rejoice that JESUS preserved me from taking or allowing any actions that would cause my Savior to be displeased with me at any time. I am grateful to be kept by the power of GOD because HE is faithful to keep what I have committed unto HIM.

Lesson Take Away:

* Prayerfully submit every person you meet to the Detective Agent of Heaven (The HOLY SPIRIT of GOD)

* Listen carefully to every insight from The HOLY SPIRIT of GOD who will speak the WORD of GOD to guide your choices

* Do not make any permanent decisions when you do not clearly know the will of GOD

* Do not stay in the 'association/relationship' a moment longer than JESUS allows. Do not leave a moment sooner than JESUS says go.

Be faithful to JESUS who will surely lead you in the paths of righteousness, deliverance, grace, peace, hope, and provision.
